Within WWYSA we have an active and friendly radio control model yachting club that normally meets at 2pm on Thursday afternoons and 10am on Saturday mornings.
The focus is on series racing and the primary yacht classes are the affordable Dragonforce 65 (DF65) and RG65 yachts. A large sailing area allows a wide variety of buoyed courses to be set out to suit the wind conditions of the day. In the large club foreshore and headland areas we have a choice of control positions from which to sail. Should the weather be poor the superb new clubhouse provides the possibilities for tea, talk and shelter, although the weather rarely prevents sailing completely.
Trophies are presented at the end of each season to the winners of the four keenly fought race series, and year- round sailing is the norm with an informal frostbite series for the hardy during the winter. Non racers are welcome just to sail and enjoy the scenery the location provides and, although the DF65 and RG65 are the preferred types for racing, a wide variety of other craft can be sailed.
The club is affiliated with the Model Yachting Association
