DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=”” css_params=””] \nExtraordinary General Meeting (EGM)\nDate: 24th November 2025 \nTime: 19:00 \nVenue: WWYSA Clubhouse \nWhy We Need an EGM\nWWYSA is about to be gifted the land and lake\, which is an exciting opportunity and a major step forward for the Association. However\, owning land also creates new responsibilities and risks that we must handle carefully. \nAt present\, as a Registered Charity\, WWYSA cannot hold property in its own name. Instead\, the land would legally have to be held by individual trustees. This would place a heavy burden on them\, making them personally liable for any issues or claims relating to the property. \nOur normal AGM must be held before year-end\, but the detailed legal and governance changes required to deal with this will not be ready in time. By holding this EGM\, members can: \n\nAgree the direction we take as an organisation.\nGive the trustees and management team authority to begin the work on a new structure.\nEnsure there is time to consult members fully before the AGM in January 2026\, where final decisions will be taken.\n\nPurpose of the Meeting\nThe purpose of this meeting is to decide whether WWYSA should begin the process of transitioning from a Registered Charity to a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO). \nA CIO is a special legal structure designed for charities. It keeps all the benefits of charity status (such as Gift Aid\, tax relief\, and credibility with funders) but also provides: \n\nLegal personality – the CIO itself can own land and sign contracts.\nLimited liability – trustees are not personally liable for the Association’s assets or debts (except in cases of fraud or negligence).\nSimpler regulation – unlike a charitable company\, a CIO only reports to the Charity Commission.\n\nProposed Resolution\nThat the members of West Wilts Youth Sailing Association approve in principle the transition of the Association from an unincorporated charity into a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO)\, and authorise the trustees/management committee to: \n\nDraft a new CIO Constitution for circulation and member review.\nSubmit an application to the Charity Commission for registration of WWYSA as a CIO.\nBring the final draft CIO Constitution back to the membership for adoption at the Annual General Meeting in January 2026\, at which point members will also be invited to apply for and elect to serve as trustees of the CIO\, including its officer roles (Chair\, Treasurer\, Secretary\, etc.).\nContinue to operate under the existing trustee/management structure until the CIO is formally adopted.\n\nVoting\n\nOnly current paid-up members are entitled to vote.\nThe resolution requires a two-thirds majority of those present and voting.\nMembers unable to attend may appoint a proxy.\nMembers must sign in as registration of attendance\n\nNote to Members\nThis EGM is about setting the direction of travel. We had planned to run a Level 3 course over the weekend of September 13th & 14th. DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=”” css_params=””]Join Us for another Fantastic Sailing Experience at Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy! \nWe are excited to invite you to our second trip of the year at the renowned Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy (WPNSA) – the 2012 Olympic sailing venue! This fantastic day out is hosted at the Andrew Simpson Centre and offers a brilliant opportunity for our members to experience open water sailing in a stunning location. \nWPNSA boasts excellent facilities for both sailors and non-sailors alike\, including a café\, showers\, and a pleasant terrace for relaxing. The Andrew Simpson Centre provides a modern fleet of boats\, outstanding instructors\, and full safety cover to ensure everyone has a fun and safe experience. For those not sailing\, there are plenty of nearby attractions to enjoy as well. \nOur July trip follows our usual path and take place on 13th July 2025\, running from 9am to 4pm with a break for lunch.  This event is open to anyone who is a member of WWYSA and holds a Youth Stage 1 qualification or is at an Adult Level 1 equivalent.  The cost for this year’s event is £67\, which is £2 more than the previous trips. \nIf you’d like to join us\, please confirm your place by completing our online registration form before the 27th June.
