One of the best-kept secrets at WWYSA is how peaceful the lake can be on a quiet afternoon with a boat, the wind, and no agenda.
Free Sails are back for the season, and if you haven't taken advantage of them yet, this is your reminder. These sessions are for WWYSA members and are completely free of charge. They give you unstructured time on the lake to sail at your own pace, try something new, brush up your skills, or simply enjoy being on the water without a race schedule in sight. No pressure, no programme, just you, a boat, and the lake.
Booking is essential. Each Free Sails session runs on the basis of pre-booking, so we know how many people are coming and can make sure everything is in place. If numbers are too low (whether that's sailors or volunteers), we may have to cancel the session. We're a volunteer-run club and every session depends on people giving their time, so please do book in and show up if you've said you're coming.
We need volunteers. Each session must have an Officer of the Day (OOD) to run safely. If you're able to help out, we'd love to hear from you. Please get in touch with Juley at [email protected]. It's a great way to give something back to the club, and the sailing's not bad either.
